The history of Vallda Golf & Country Club begins in the mid-1990s, when a group of close friends, Peter Teiffel, August Lindeblad, Anders Rabbe and Reine Rosén, started to dream about creating a British heathland golf course. After a long search, they eventually found 86 hectares of meadowland, surrounded by oak forest, in Valldadalen, outside Kungsbacka. This was the perfect site on which to create a classic Scottish heathland golf course.
Once planning permission had been granted, the golf architect Martin Hawtree was commissioned to design the course. When sketching the layout, he drew inspiration from the legendary English golf courses of the 1920s, and the first nine holes were opened in May 2009. Just two months later, all 18 holes were completed. Featuring distinctive bunkers, undulating greens and holes strategically surrounded by tall rough, the course provides a challenge to all players, regardless of handicap. And a series of alternative routes makes a round here varied and unpredictable.
When it comes to a quick heathland course, grass is a key factor. Red fescue has been sown across the entire course, which, combined with over 40 kilometres of drainage and sand, creates a dry, hard playing surface where the ball rolls and bounces. Thanks to its modern construction, sustainable maintenance and, not least, plenty of passion, the course always has excellent areas of play. Vallda Golf & Country Club is currently ranked among the top ten courses in the country, and has been referred to as Sweden’s most enjoyable course to play on. At our ultra-modern training centre you can practise like a pro, whatever your age or handicap, with our resident Head Pro Emil Rosberg. Emil also looks after kids and juniors who dream about breaking par at Martin Hawtree’s classic links course.
